2. China Tourist Visa — L Visa

The China Tourist Visa, also known as the L Visa, is for travellers visiting China for tourism, leisure and organised travel experiences.

This visa is suitable for:

• Group tourism

• Leisure visits
• Organised travel packages

For Nigerian applicants, China tourist visa processing may require a group travel arrangement supported by an authorised tourism invitation from China. Travellers may also be required to travel together on the same travel date depending on the structure of the group application.

Can You Visit Markets or Factories on a Tourist Visa?

A tourist traveller may visit markets, explore commercial areas and make purchases during their trip. However, if the main purpose of travel is factory inspection, supplier meetings, business negotiations or trade activities, the Business Visa, M Visa, is the more suitable visa category.

Although requirements may vary depending on the applicant’s profile and visa type, applicants should generally prepare the following:

• Valid international passport
• Passport data page
• Recent passport photograph
• Bank statement or proof of funds (may be required – seek consultation)

• Hotel reservation, where applicable
• Flight reservation, where applicable
• Invitation document from China, where required
• Completed online visa application form
• Any additional document requested by the Embassy, Consulate or Visa Application Centre

For proof of funds, applicants should maintain a strong and consistent financial record. A healthy closing balance and clear account activity can help support the application, although it does not guarantee visa approval.

How Long Does China Visa Processing Take?

China visa processing timelines may vary depending on the visa category, invitation approval, applicant profile and visa authority review.

For applications that require an invitation document from China, clients should allow enough time for both the invitation process and the visa submission process. At AFARI, we generally advise clients to start early and avoid urgent last-minute requests.

Visa validity, number of entries and duration of stay are determined by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate.

Tourist visas are commonly issued with a short-term validity, while duration of stay may often be up to 30 – 60 days depending on the visa granted. Business visas may also vary based on the applicant’s profile and supporting documents.

Applicants should not assume that every visa will be issued for the same duration or validity.
