On 26 January, the UAE announced that it is resuming all inbound flights for national and international carriers and transit passengers from 12 African countries, as stated in our previous article UAE Resumes Entry For Travellers From 12 African Countries. It mentioned the travel ban has been lifted for passengers coming from Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe and gave entry requirements for Ghana, Uganda and Rwanda.
For travellers from Nigeria, the following requirements were given for Ethiopian Airlines to airlift Nigerians as follows:
- Layover at Addis Ababa to connect ET 602 the next day to Dubai (DXB);
- A Negative PCR test 24-hours before departure (i.e. a day before departure);
- A $50 denomination for RAPID TEST (to be paid on arrival in Addis Ababa); and
- Transit via Lomé is prohibited.
For travellers on RwandAir, a 48-hours Negative COVID-19 PCR test result is required prior to departure and no rapid test is required on transit but a PCR test is required on arrival.
