Kenya has taken a bold stride toward seamless African mobility by eliminating pre-travel entry authorisations for most African countries—including Nigeria.

Under a new directive by Kenya’s cabinet, Nigerian passport holders can now visit visa-free and without prior online approvals for stays up to 60 days.

This follows last year’s controversial rollout of the Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) system, which critics described as “a visa under another name.” Thankfully, the updated policy has scrapped the eTA requirement for most African nationals, making it easier than ever to explore Kenya’s rich culture, wildlife, and business opportunities.

What Has Changed?

✅ No visa, no eTA, no pre-travel headaches: Nigerians can now travel to Kenya and obtain entry clearance on arrival—no online forms or advance approvals required.

✅ EAC nationals get even more: Citizens of the East African Community (Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan) can stay visa-free for up to six months, in line with EAC agreements.

Entry Requirements for Nigerians

To enjoy Kenya’s visa-free access, travelers simply need:

• A valid Nigerian international passport (with at least six months’ validity from arrival date).
• Proof of onward/return travel and accommodation may be requested at the port of entry.
