Virgin Atlantic has reinstated its seasonal flights between Cape Town International Airport and London’s Heathrow, operating daily flights until March 2024. This move is expected to bring more than 80,000 seats to the route during the Cape Town summer season.
The flights will be conducted on Virgin Atlantic’s fuel-efficient Boeing 787-9 aircraft, offering passengers a choice between Upper Class, Premium, and Economy cabins. Marc Harding, Country Manager for South Africa at Virgin Atlantic, expressed delight at the return of this well-loved route, highlighting its convenience for both business and leisure travellers between South Africa and the United Kingdom.
The service is also anticipated to facilitate seamless connections to Europe and North America via Heathrow while providing additional cargo capacity for transporting essential goods. Virgin Atlantic had initially announced the resumption of direct services between Cape Town and London in May of the previous year, with operations officially commencing in November 2022 after a hiatus since 2015.
