Singapore’s Changi Airport has reclaimed its title as the world’s best airport, as per the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2023. The airport, which had held the crown for many years before losing it to Doha Hamad Airport for the past two years during the height of the pandemic, has once again secured the top spot. Doha Hamad Airport now takes second place, followed by Tokyo Haneda in third place.
However, it has once again secured the top spot after reopening and refurbishing Terminal 2 (T2) after a three-and-a-half-year transformation journey. The T2 extension project has increased Changi’s capacity by five million passengers per annum, boosting the airport’s overall handling capacity to 90 million passengers per annum.
Changi Airport has long been celebrated for its advanced and attractive facilities, and it has consistently ranked high in customer satisfaction surveys. The Skytrax World Airport Awards consider traveller feedback on various aspects, including check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security, and immigration.
The top 10 airports in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2023 are as follows:
- Singapore Changi Airport
- Doha Hamad Airport
- Tokyo Haneda Airport
- Seoul Incheon Airport
- Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport
- Istanbul Airport
- Munich Airport
- Zurich Airport
- Tokyo Narita Airport
- Madrid Barajas Airport
Notably, the US did not have an airport in the top 10 rankings. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport was the highest-ranked North American airport, securing the 18th position, an improvement from 27th place in the previous ranking.
Changi Airport’s success highlights its commitment to innovation, passenger experience, and the ongoing expansion of its facilities to meet the growing demands of air travel.
