The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) is making efforts to promote Nigerian tourism to the world by participating in the World Travel Market, the largest tourism, technology, and travel market taking place in London.
NANTA is sending a seventy-member trade delegation of independent and private travel and tourism specialists to showcase Nigeria to the global tourism market. The goal is to attract more tourist dollars to the country.
This is NANTA’s second independent effort to represent Nigeria at the global tourism market. Their team consists of individuals bonded by patriotism and a desire to change the global perception of Nigeria as a tourist destination. They aim to leverage the extensive flight connectivity with Nigeria, given the numerous foreign airlines operating there.
NANTA’s President, Susan Akporiaye, along with other executives, leads the delegation. They believe that increasing tourism traffic to Nigeria will benefit the country by boosting the economy and stabilizing the Nigerian Naira. This initiative comes as a response to a lack of clear direction from the federal government regarding the country’s tourism industry.
The delegation intends to showcase Nigeria’s cultural tourism, telecommunications, and agricultural services, and it believes that a significant increase in tourism traffic could provide a boost to the Nigerian currency.
The World Travel Market will run from November 6th to November 8th, 2023, at the Excel in London and will include participants from over 100 countries and various private trade businesses worldwide.
