A Nigeria visa is a type of authorization that allows foreign travellers to enter and stay in Nigeria for a certain period of time and for a specific purpose. Depending on your nationality and the purpose of your visit, you may need to apply for a Nigeria visa before your trip or obtain one on arrival at the port of entry.
If you are planning to visit Nigeria for tourism, business, or transit purposes, you should check if you need a visa and what type of visa suits your needs. You should also prepare the necessary documents and fees and apply for your visa in advance or on arrival.
Which countries need Visa to visit Nigeria?:
Citizens of around 15 countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Sierra Leone, can enter Nigeria without a visa for up to 90 days. You just need a valid passport for the entire stay and a return ticket.
All other travellers need to apply for a visa on arrival at certain ports of entry or in advance at the nearest Nigerian embassy.
How long is the Nigeria Visa valid?
The Nigeria visa allows a maximum stay of 90 days from the date of arrival, within one calendar year. It is a single-entry visa, so once the permitted stay is over, you must leave the country to avoid legal problems. Although an extension is possible, it is not guaranteed and does not grant multiple entries. You can apply for an extension at the Nigeria Immigration Service in Abuja.
