On July 10 2022, Rabat – Morocco officially launched their online platform, Access Maroc, an e-Visa system to help make obtaining e-visas easier.
The website would allow the issuing of electronic visas for citizens of select countries to stay in Morocco for a maximum of 30 days.
With the e-visa, you can visit Morocco during its validity period of 30 days.
Although, the average wait time to obtain an express visa should be 72 hours. With the website, the wait time is as short as 24 hours before entering the country.
The Ministry of Foreign affairs has made it known that there would be three categories for issuing the e-visas.
For the first category, it will take at most 180 days for residents of countries in the European Union, Canada, the USA, UK, Switzerland, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.
The second category: for about 90 days, residents of the US, Australia, Canada, the UK, Ireland, and New Zealand with Schengen visas can benefit from the Moroccan e-visa.
For the third category, residents of countries like Thailand and Israel can also take advantage of the visa.
The Access Maroc website launch is one of Morocco’s strategies to digitize some of its administrative processes. Another aim is to revitalize the tourism sector as the country recovers from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The e-visa website launch will be a boost to the country’s tourist and business travellers as they will no longer be obligated to obtain their visas from an embassy.
It is currently unclear how Nigerian travellers and tourists will benefit from the e-Visa system launch. More information on this will become clearer with time.
At the moment, Nigerians require a traditional tourist visa to enter Morocco. The visa allows gives validity for a 90-day stay.
