Kenya has announced a new streamlined travel policy that is set to replace the Kenyan Visa System. The country has set a six-month grace period for other members of the East African Community to ensure that the new eTA system is implemented successfully. According to media reports, people looking to visit Kenya are required to apply at least 3 days before their trip to the country. The application fee currently stands at $30 per head. As of January 1st, 2024, Kenya has been implementing the new eTA system for all travellers, except those that had been exempted. The EAC countries exempted include Uganda, Burundi, DRC, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Somalia.
The new eTA system is expected to make travel to Kenya more efficient and convenient. The system is designed to be more user-friendly and will allow travellers to apply for visas online. This will save time and reduce the need for travellers to visit embassies or consulates in person. The new system is also expected to reduce the incidence of fraud and corruption in the visa application process.
Kenya’s new travel policy is a welcome development for travellers to the country. The new eTA system will make it easier for people to visit Kenya and help boost the country’s tourism industry. With the new system in place, travellers can look forward to a hassle-free travel experience when visiting Kenya.
