The Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Mr Boss Mustapha, during a press briefing on 21st March 2022, has announced the new COVID-19 travel protocols for inbound travellers. He stated that passengers entering Nigeria who are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to take a pre-departure PCR COVID-19 test. Additionally, samples of fully vaccinated travellers will be taken on arrival for Rapid Antigen testing by the NCDC within the airport’s arrival hall at no cost.
On the other hand, unvaccinated and partially vaccinated travellers must do a COVID-19 PCR test 48 hours before departure OR do a Day 2 and Day 7 PCR COVID-19 Test on arrival. They must pay for their PCR testing through the travel platform (https://nitp.ncdc.gov.ng).
Children aged 10 – 18 years will not be required to have pre-arrival tests but will have a sample taken at the arrival hall without any charge.
This new policy will take effect from 4th April 2022.
However, passengers travelling to other countries are advised to be fully vaccinated and comply with COVID-19 protocols and requirements of their destination countries.
